"I wanted to participate in the Mt. Washington Bicycle race but climbing was the weakest part of my cycling. I did not know where to begin until a friend recommended Steve Black to me.

Lisa Perkins

After Steve's testing, he designed an individual program for me, which included weight training, nutrition, and cycling. In less than 3 months, I went from 14.9% to 11.1% body fat. My V02 Max increased from 41.9 to 44.5 and my AT increased from 166 to 171. These results astounded me for just working with Steve for a short period of time. Also, I have always belonged to a gym and lifted regularly but by following Steve's strength program, I have seen greater results in 3 months than I have in 3 years.

I cannot say enough great things about Steve and his program. He is always there with answers to all of my questions and his positive outlook is especially motivating. I am looking forward to even greater results and tackling Mt Washington. I would recommend Steve to anyone who is serious about reaching his or her cycling goals. His program works!"

Update: "Thought you might like to see my files on my two climbs up Mt Ascutney this weekend. Mt Ascutney is 3.8 miles long and has an average grade of 11.7%. 1st climb my averaged heart rate was 169 for 43 minutes and the second climb I averaged 164 for 47 minutes. Highest averages I have seen. Last time your tested me, I had an AT of 171 and max HR of 176. I would never have seen climbing results like this without your help." Thank-you....Lisa!

"Steve has helped me extend my running career over the past 10 years by not only addressing the periodic injuries that come with hard training, but how to avoid them with a strength and flexibility plan for the long term." Steve understands how to deal with the world class athlete, the weekend warrior, or somebody just starting out on a walking-for-fitness program. He's empathetic, doesn't talk down to anybody or use medical gobbily gook terms, and is a great listener - something most medical practitioners aren't these days!"

"Steve understands the athlete who gets injured and does not want to hear about just resting to get over his/her ailment. He is a great listener who will let you explain your situation first, without interruption, and then carefully evaluate the root cause of your injury and prescribe a plan of action to get you back to health. He doesn't just treat the point of pain or irritation, but looks at your body in total for answers, especially, as it relates to chronic, recurring problems."

"After a year of struggling with pain in my hip/buttock area and countless visits to sports medicine physicians, I heard Steve speak at a seminar at a local running store. Inspired by his overall holistic approach to injury prevention and rehabilitation, I began a strength and flexibility program. Steve taught me that my body didn't get this way overnight and it wasn't going to be cured overnight either. Through his intense dedication, physical therapy and perseverance in working on my issues and my own commitment to stretching and listening to my body, I have been able to run better, stronger and more importantly, without pain.

Steve's one-on-one dedication to his patients and personalization of their training programs to meet their individual needs, was just what I needed to get myself healthy and well again."

"Within three sessions of exercising and physical therapy with Steve Black I began to be able to move with ease and confidence. Steve is careful in his instructions and explanation on how to do each exercise and how it will benefit me as I progress. The more progress I made the more motivated I was and my feeling of well being is at an all time high. I am back to running and being healthy."

"I know I would not be as well as I am today without the excellent physical therapy care I received from Steve Black after my recent fall. Steve demonstrated sports injury expertise, professionalism, encouragement and continuous feedback and psychological support. He gave me the strength and ability to run again with renewed motivation. Thanks to Steve I am back running and healthy again."

Hartford Marathon

"Whenever I look for a coach or mentor in any area I use the same test. Namely, has the coach or mentor 'been there and done that!' After reading Steve Black's accomplishments as an athlete (Including successfully completing the Hawaiian Ironman) and coach I knew he passed that test without any question. Shortly after meeting Steve I completed my first Marathon. His approach is scientific and more importantly it works! I have no doubt that I will continue to improve and set new PR's through Steve's coaching."

"I first met Steve at a lecture he delivered to a local running club that I was affiliated. At that time, I had been recovering from a back injury as a result of an automobile accident. I underwent months of traditional rehab and physical therapy with poor results. As an avid athlete, I was frustrated with the treatment I received, and began to feel that I would never fully recover from my injury. Steve's talk gave me hope that there were options and alternative treatments available to help me live pain free and resume my active lifestyle.

Within three months of seeing Steve, I was back on the race circuit and competing in triathlons and duathlons, which is my true passion. Steve is a unique practitioner. He listens, spends quality time, and truly cares about his patients. Not only did Steve help me resolve my injury, but he taught me how to prevent further problems by developing a thorough training and rehab program. Thanks to Steve, I am continuing to train and race pain free. I am also happy to say that as a result of his expertise, I am posting the fastest times in my career. Thank you for everything!"
